DVUSC was pleased to have Ms Kate Thwaites MP, member for Jagajaga, visit the Partingtons Flat ground and rooms last week. She met with Rafael Merino, our Junior Boys Coordinator and DVUSC Committee member.
Ms Thwaites wanted to visit as part of our receipt of the Federal Stronger Communities Grant that we received ($7,500).
While Raf took Ms Thwaites on a tour of the grounds, he filled her in on the Club’s history and future plans. In particular he emphasised challenges such as: the need for female friendly change rooms to accommodate our 7 female teams, also requirements for support and funding for ground and building re-development.
Ms Thwaites was very receptive and said she will notify us of any upcoming grants that might help.
We thank Ms Thwaites for taking the time to visit, and we look forward to maintaining an on-going positive relationship with her.
DVU families may be interested to know that, in addition to the Federal Stronger Communities Grant, we received a $2500 grant from Banyule Council for equipment. Both grant amounts plus additional DVUSC club funds are being used to purchase a number of Portable Soccer Goals for the junior teams which can be used both for training and matches.
